The anticipation for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is building up, with the mega event set to kick off on June 01 in the West Indies and the USA. Fans are eagerly awaiting the cricketing spectacle, and to heighten the excitement, the International Cricket Council (ICC) released a captivating new promo on Thursday, February 22.

The promotional video, running for one minute and 26 seconds, showcases the presence of various cricketing stars, including Quinton de Kock from South Africa, Indian batting sensation Shubman Gill, Pakistan’s pace maestro Shaheen Afridi, Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, and former West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard. Interestingly, the promo also features a snippet of Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli showcasing his bowling skills in the T20 World Cup 2016 semi-final against the West Indies.

The promo captures the essence of fans’ unwavering support for their teams, beautifully portraying the rollercoaster of emotions experienced during a cricket match.

While general ticket sales for the tournament have already commenced, match passes for the opening game and the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan clash are not yet available on the official ICC website. The curtain-raiser of the event will witness the USA and Canada facing off on Saturday, June 01, at Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas.

The much-awaited clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan is scheduled for Sunday, June 09, at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York, beginning at 8 PM IST. India’s campaign in the tournament will commence against Ireland on June 05, followed by clashes with Pakistan (June 09), the United States (June 12), and Canada (June 15).

In this edition, a total of 20 teams will participate, divided into four groups of five teams each. After the group stage, the top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 8s stage, where they will be further divided into two groups of four each.

The teams finishing in the top two of each Super 8 group will qualify for the semi-finals, scheduled for June 26 and 27. The winners of the semi-finals will compete in the final on June 29 in Barbados, promising an exhilarating culmination to the T20 World Cup 2024.
